The years you were in Venezuela: 1952 to 1961

Year graduated from Staff School: Left after 3rd grade.
City and State you live in now: Riverside, CA

Birth Announcements: my daughter (31 years ago) and my son (26 years ago) Sorry I was so late getting this news out.

Passing Announcements: My parents, Harrison and Ida Staub, passed away last year within four months of each other. While my dad was very much a social recluse after coming to the states, they also treasured memories of their San Tome friends and spoke of them often. My mom, being the opposite of my father in many ways, yearned for the dances at the club, and the Halloween parties for which she was, at different times, a Sultan attended by her more svelte friends who fanned her with palm branches and a "Mammie" with the Showboat crew of which Jake Howland was the riverboat Captain. She tied a wide basket to her head and covered it with fruit.

Your Other News: I thought I'd try to get this going, so although this isn't news, I figured I'd introduce myself. My family moved to Anaco at the end of 1952, I think, where we lived in a house on stilts. Mom always said that was to keep the snakes out, but later we saw that snakes can climb, so I think Dad told her that to encourage her to stay. We moved to San Tome shortly after that. My brother Jerry and I went to the San Tome school where he was often in trouble, and I was just quiet and sweet. He was involved in several pranks, one that I remember distinctly brought our second grade class out into the hall to see why his teacher was screaming. Turned out to be a harmless little snake or lizard in her desk. We went to Nursery school at Sarah and Tica Welsh's house. My kindergarten teacher was blonde and looked like Barbie (who was nonexistent at the time) and held back the boy who kicked my sand castles over, so I liked her a lot.

Let's have some more memories posted here, like there were on the old site (by the way, thanks Terry, for making sure my virtual home town is still up and running) so our kids can understand our passion for our unique way of life in San Tome.

Am very happy to report the birth of a new grandchild on April 6, Isabella Miner Villalobos. Her mother is Lisa Bowman Villalobos and her father is Sergio Villalobos. They live here in Houston. Of course she is dear!!

Hello Terry

I will be coming to the states May 16, I will send a donation from there as I don't trust our mail service here in Trinidad. Also do you know of anyone from San Tome that lives within the Louisiana area (Lafayette).

Sincerely, Jonathan Torry (torrytt@hotmail.com)

Terry: I want to thank you for the chance to keep in contact with such an enthusiastic generation and I'll definitely give Johnny Servello a call (message). As for my contribution, it will have to wait until I get over to Florida with a few $$$ US in my pocket and take the opportunity to give you a visit and contribute unos $$$ when I travel to Sand Key to visit my buddy John Schwartz. Until then and I'll try to help you contact some more Santomeniacs who live in the US and are better established to help out with contributions, ok!! I hope we can get a few more Pto La Cruz folks to join as well!!?? Gracias de nuevo y buenas noches, Brian Goddard

PS: Which reminds me, if there any Houstonians on your list who might have Ed St Aubyn´s e-mail address, I would be most appreciative; plus I'll give Johnny a buzz to see if he has it!!??
