Patsy Slaybaugh, Friday, June 25, 2004 Bob Morgan was very well known to so many of us. I thought I would send you the obituary to include in your newsletter if you choose to do so. Passing Announcements: Robert V. "Bob" Morgan Sr. Family-Placed Obituary Robert V. Morgan, Sr., age 88, died Sunday, June 20, 2004, in Georgetown, Texas. Born on April 5, 1916, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, he lived a rich and full life. In 1922 at the age of six he moved with his father to Mexico where his father worked for the Santa Fe Rail Road and Standard Oil Co. Growing up in Mexico alone with his father would instill a love for family that never wavered. In 1941 he wed Marie Antoinette ``Toni' Hamilton to whom he would be a devoted husband until her death April 4 1991. In 1939 he traveled to Venezuela to work for Gulf Oil Co. rising through the ranks, he eventually became Chief Pilot of their Aviation Department. His experiences and adventures in aviation were among his proudest accomplishments and fondest memories. They ranged from soloing in a bi-plane to flying in the Concord. The family moved to Austin in 1961 and he operated Morgan Gulf Service at two locations in the University Area until his retirement in 1982. His greatest joy was his family and he gave his love and advice freely to all his children. He is survived by his sister, Martha Frances Shigo of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; daughter, Tina Neyland and husband, Cotton of Houston; daughter, Iris Castro Hamilton of Brownsville; daughter, Roberta Spack of Tampa, Florida; daughter, Martha Curtis and husband, Don of Orlando, Florida; daughter, LeRoy Jahn and husband, Ray of San Antonio; son, Bobby Morgan and wife, Debie of Leander, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. I have enjoyed a lot visiting
The new web site, and may be I am one of the most frequent visitors,
but remember that I live in Venezuela. May be you don't know, but
here we have a severe exchange control and we are not allowed to use
credit card and to do any transaction overseas. In fact, we are
living a dictatorship, this guy Hugo Chaves, is like the son of
Fidel Castro, and there are a lot of Cubans here doing whatever they
want. Well, I am engineer, and just because I am against the
government, I am not allowed to work in oil companies because they
say I am against the revolution. You can't imagine what we are
living. On August 15, we are going to have a referendum to try to
get rid of this government by voting, but it is difficult to know
what is going to happen because they have power, guns and money. So,
If this pass, sure I would like to make a donation to maintain the
web site.
Best regards, Lino E. Perez
