Hello Terry,

I don’t know if you remember me, but you tutored me in algebra during the summer of 1967, when your father was working for Flint Drilling, and later that summer you traveled with me and my mother to Austin, Texas, where my grandparents lived, staying the night and then flying on to New Mexico for university.

I went by the surname of McAuley at that time.  My step-father Roger McAuley was manager of the local Servicios Hydrocarb operation, and my mother Joan (Jo Ann) used to play bridge with your mother.

I was surprised and pleased to find the San Tome website.  Venezuela was an important part of my life, and it was nice to see a few familiar names.

I did not attend school in San Tome, so, unfortunately, most of my Venezuelan contacts through the years have been with the friends that attended school with me on the island Barbados: their fathers worked in Mata and Anaco.  I did, however, attend graduate business school with George McClellan during the mid-1970s in Austin.  The last I heard of him, he was working for Gulf Oil Company in the late 1970s.

My mother is well and living just north of Houston, Texas.  She retired at age 66 from Pogo Producing Co. but after two years of sitting around the house going crazy, she decided to return to Pogo as a consultant in their international unit, and she is still working for them at age 71.

My step-father Roger separated from my mother in 1970, and he sadly disappeared off the coast of Australia while skin diving in 1996.

My brother Mark McAuley, whom you may remember as the little suntanned, blonde-headed boy with the big dog named King, is married and working for Dell Computer in Austin.

Take care.

Best regards,

Michael Lovejoy

Could you send me something about the history of the origin of San Tomé?. My father was teacher in San Tomé from the year 1963 to 1996, his name was Fredys Navarro. I want to write something about the origins San Tomé, but I don't have a good source of information.

Thank's for your support.

Hi,

Could you please add my name to the list.

I was born in San Tome in 1956. We moved to Caracas and then lived in the MGO camp in Maracaibo-then back to Caracas. At nationalization in 1970 we moved to Houston where my dad retired from Gulf oil.

I went back to work with Meneven and then Corpoven from 1983-94 in Puerto La Cruz.

My wife Mitzi was also born in San Tome and lived there till 1969.
