I would first like to say thank you to all of you who have made donations in order to make sure the web site continues in existence. I also want to thank those of you who have sent in pictures for the web site.

Keep up the good work. You can submit your news bits on the Newsletters page.

The September newsletter is late because I have been on vacation. I went to Virginia and visited mom & dad (Clyde & Mary Lou) and my brother (Allen). My daughter (Cheri) and her family (Husband: Frank, Daughters: Gillian & Genna) live in Staunton, VA and I spent some time with them also. My son (Dean) and his family (Wife: Lisa, Son: Luke) live in Dover, DE and they came to Virginia while I was there.

While I was away I received some emails concerning friends who were affected by hurricane Katrina. I have posted them in the newsletter below.

Your Other News: If anyone has any information about any of our friends who were affected by the recent hurricane and floods, such as Chuck Hall, Gordon Theriot and daughters, Lonnie Wehmeyer, and any others, it would be of interest to many.

Your Other News: I am responding to the request for Katrina news on Lonnie Wehmeyer on your website. I am Lonnie's niece (Sandra Wehmeyer's daughter) who also lives in New Orleans. Reluctantly, Lonnie evacuated to Memphis with his dog Cosmo to his brother Richard's home. He has since traveled to Houston to visit his two sisters (Sandra and Frances). He has purchased an RV and plans to travel offering assistance to Katrina victims in Mississippi and Louisiana.

Year graduated from Staff School: would have been 1984

City and State you live in now: (near) Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Your Other News: I just wanted to let everyone know about a great book that has now been published in English. It is entitled "Jungle Rudy", written by Dutch author Jan Brokken. It is a fascinating book about Rudy Truffino, a.k.a. Jungle Rudy, who in the 1950s established Campo Ucaima near Canaima. I met him a few times, usually when we went with the school to Canaima, and the man had a really interesting history. So, for those of you wanting to know more about life in the jungles of Venezuela, give this book a try!

P.S. I noticed that you do not have the picture of the 1965 graduation. I remember paying for the Wildcat annual; however, I really don't know what became of it. I was told that the annual did not arrive & would be given to my sister. I really don't know. It was really weird, my sister gave me whole bunch of Wildcat annuals & have put them away in my old toy chest. I don't know if I can scan them, but if you need any particular pictures my husband & I can try to send them to you.

Emails:

Dear Terry,

I try to post this info on your website unsuccessfully and have mailed it to all Santomesinos I email with. The Weggeman boys Hayes and Pito, suffered very heavy material losses due to Katrina. The Weggeman Family was pivotal to all youth in San Tome from the 70's thru the early eighties. And I mean, Mr. and Mrs. Weggeman made sure everybody was covered and where they needed to be (they put all the kids in their huge delivery van).

I think, this is important San Tome news, cuz they are part of the core of the San Tome family.

Maybe some folks just want to drop them a line, or give them a call or help in some other way.

Thanx, Jodie Sigala (sigala@juno.com)

Terry,

I just wanted to thank you for sending me the e-mail & showing me Cathy’s picture.  I haven’t seen her in years & hopefully I’ll make to Texas next year to see her.  I also saw your picture & really didn’t recognize you.  You’ve changed so much.

My husband & I just returned from Florida.  We were a little scared, because of Hurricane Dennis, but we survived and are back home in Tennessee.  I really loved Florida & I’m hoping to go back in September, but I’ll just have to wait.   My supervisor wasn’t sure, since the end of the fiscal year is coming up.  If you don’t know the fiscal year ends September 30th

We’re planning to see my in-laws next month in Maine.  I told my husband, Bob, that we’ve got to travel to Booth Bay Harbor, so I can get my fix of lobster.

I broke my hand on Christmas Day, but it’s improving.  They told me it won’t ever be the same as it was, but I’ve managed to rotate it quite a bit more than I thought possible.

Take care, Martha Munn (martha_munn@bellsouth.net)
